Our Mission is to give hope to those who seek a better health. HOPE seeks to carry on Christ’s healing mission through caring for the body, mind, and soul of the financially and/or spiritually poor—the sick, the lonely, the elderly, and those who feel powerless.
Jesus challenged in Matthew 25:31-46, “Then the King will say…for I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink….I was sick and you cared for me. Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me.”

The HOPE Project is a safety-net provider of primary medical and dental care for the low-income and uninsured individuals living in the Piney Woods of East Texas. It is a non-profit, faith-based initiative that was established in 2003 by St. John’s Episcopal Church (Center), St. John’s Episcopal Church (Carthage), and Christ Episcopal Church (San Augustine) to serve the community of Deep East Texas. Since inception, the HOPE Project has provided cost-effective primary health care services to over 2,500 people. The Tenaha Clinic is a multi-practitioner based facility with a mission to provide high quality, compassionate health care regardless of ability to pay, race, color, religion, or socio-economic status. We operate on a sliding scale patient fee schedule. We are privately supported and do not rely on government funds. It is only through generous gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations that we are able to provide this high quality health care.
